about this site

At this time, there isn't any general info on the Honor Harrington series hosted here. The assumption is that if one is already to the point of the series where Andrew LaFollet has been introduced, one already has a fair idea of what it's about and what's going on. If not, one must have a friend who is fond of the character and has been told about him in vague terms. The webmistress encourages such people, in that case, to find a copy of On Basilisk Station and read from there. If one is not hooked on the series by the end of that, one will never get to Field of Dishonor!

For those of you coming here through the Honor Harrington fandom and who know nothing about online anime fandom, a character shrine is just the name given in the anime webworld to sites focused on one particular character. Old anime fandom habits die hard. This is more accurately termed a character information page. The webmistress is not about to start calling herself the LaFollet no Miko, though; she's not that insistent on using the old-type anime web terms.

Why no images here? Well, first off, this is a page about a book character, and he hasn't been pictured on any of the book covers. Secondly, there aren't many fanartists working in this fandom, and those who are aren't drawing the character in question. Thirdly, the webmistress has a slight failing; she can't draw people very well, and what she comes up with in the way of Andrew LaFollet portraits would be basically described as a bad CLAMP emulation, picturing Kazuhiko with Fujitaka Kinomoto's haircolor, and wearing Kusanagi's uniform. Nobody wants that. (When she draws Nimitz, it comes out a six-legged Spinel Sun...in Suppi form. Be thankful this isn't a Nimitz shrine.)

That's also the reason this layout is suboptimal. Honestly, when you think of Andrew LaFollet, what comes to mind? Probably nothing much pictorially, which is why this place is full of nice green text.
